This semester, I aimed to explore purity culture in Catholicism by using the veils as a motif for expectations and burden placed upon women from an early age. Through this work, I ask:“Does the veil celebrate virtuous modesty and religious devotion, or does it restrain feminine expression, identity, and sexuality?”
